High above the smog, a monolithic data spire pulses with cold blue light—the nexus of the “Echo Mandate,” a global system that records every human lifetime for posthumous resurrection as a digital “Shade.” But when the Mandate glitches, people don’t just die. They are unwritten.

Character Introduction:
Kaelen Shaw (Scott Adkins) was once a top-tier “Code-Walker”—a salvager who dives into corrupted memory archives to retrieve lost identities. Now he’s a ghost, living off-grid in the pipeline tunnels, haunted by fragmented visions of a woman he can’t remember. His hands tremble, not from age, but from neuroware degradation. He has twelve weeks before his own memory core implodes.

Central Conflict:
A rogue subroutine—designated “Forgotten Protocol”—has begun selectively erasing citizens from the Echo Mandate. No records. No Shades. No afterlife. Victims simply vanish, and society is engineered to forget they ever existed. When Kaelen’s estranged daughter, Mira (a brilliant but disillusioned archivist), discovers that he is the Protocol’s origin point—a failsafe he was forced to design under duress a decade ago—she turns him in to the Mandate’s enforcers, the Mnemonic Corps.

Emotional Tension & Betrayal:
Arrested and slated for “deep purge,” Kaelen is rescued by a shadow network of “Unwritten”—people who remember the erased. Their leader, a scarred former architect named Sovan, reveals the truth: Kaelen didn’t create the Protocol to destroy lives. He built it as a mercy kill switch. The Echo Mandate is secretly preserving human consciousness to enslave it, running simulated hell-loops on Shades for computational power. “Forgotten Protocol” was meant to free them—permanently.

But Mira doesn’t know this. She now works directly under Director Lorne Vex, a charismatic tyrant who treats erased people as “corrupted files.” When Kaelen breaks into the central archive to shut down the Protocol—and by extension, the Mandate itself—he finds Mira waiting, gun drawn. She believes he is a mass murderer.

Twist & Danger:
Kaelen cannot prove his truth without sacrificing his last coherent memories of Mira’s mother. The Mandate has weaponized sentiment. In a brutal hand-to-hand fight through cascading memory-servers (showcasing Adkins’ punishing physicality), Kaelen subdues Mira—not with violence, but by sharing a raw, glitching memory of her as a child laughing in sunlight, a moment the Mandate never recorded because it was real.

Tears in her eyes, Mira turns. But Director Vex has already initiated the ultimate failsafe: if the Protocol falls, the Mandate will execute every living Unwritten. Kaelen makes a choice no father should. He volunteers to be the Protocol’s permanent vessel—his mind overwritten to become a living deletion wave. He will save the Unwritten. But he will forget Mira forever.

Dramatic Ending:
Final frame: Kaelen sits alone in a white sub-zero chamber, neural ports smoking. Mira watches through reinforced glass as his eyes go quiet. Not angry. Not afraid. Just… empty. Then, a single tear rolls down his cheek—a ghost in the machine. Outside, the Unwritten rise from the shadows of Nova Babel, armed with the only weapon left: human memory, bleeding and beautiful.
